Intelligent Interfaces

Special Interest Group (IISIG)

The Intelligent Interfaces Special Interest Group (IISIG) is sponsored by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) as part of its Intelligent Systems Integration Programme. The aims of the SIG are to; The IISIG was formally constituted at its inaugural meeting which was held at the Open University on 30th March 1994. The executive committee is; Other members are to be co-opted onto the executive committee as required.

Intelligent Interfaces

The area of intelligent interfaces covers a variety of topics concerned with the application of artificial intelligence and knowledge-based techniques to issues of human-computer interaction. Intelligent Interfaces represent a major growth area for the application of knowledge-based techniques as many fundamental difficulties with human-computer interaction can only be solved with the II approach. The IISIG adopts a practical orientation, investigating ways of integrating appropriate knowledge-based technologies into work situations. Applications of the concept and related issues include;

Activities

The main activities of the IISIG will be to raise awareness and disseminate information on the applications of II technology. Specifically the SIG will:

  2. 2. produce a regular newsletter IIQ ('Double IQ') informing members of relevant conferences, publications, demonstrations and related activities
  3. 3. organise and run regular conferences, seminars, workshops and visits on II applications and related issues.
