Dynamic HTML

Dynamic HTML (DHTML) is a powerful tool, but should be used sparingly. I've found that users enjoy an moving element on a WWW page the first few times that they access the page, but it can become annoying, so you've got to use the technique sparingly.

The great thing about DHTML is that it is extremely easy to design moving content in Dreamweaver. Basically you create a new layer for the HTML that you wish to move, then select it, and select Window->Timelines (if the timeline is not already shown). Next right click on the point on the timeline that you want to add a keyframe, and then select Add Keyframe. Move to the next keyframe, and add another keyframe, and so on. Each time move the object to where you want it to move. The timeline below gives an example for the menu item which moves in from the right-hand side on this page. Notice that it moves at 10 frames per second, and it has 35 frames, thus it will take a total of 3.5 seconds to move in from the left. The keyframe at Frame 19 defines the lowest point of the movement.
