Working Group on Scheduling and Timetabling
Aims:
Scheduling and timetabling are related applications for which evolutionary algorithms have been shown to be highly successful. Evolutionary scheduling techniques are highly applicable to industry and some industrial projects are already in existence. Evolutionary timetabling has been widely applied in both an academic and industrial context. The two applications, while different, have many similarities, and there is a great deal to be learnt from greater co-operation.
The purpose of this working group is to encourage further co-operation
in this emerging field. The intention is to provide a forum for the exchange
of ideas and to facilitate the application of new techniques to industrial
problems.
