Atoms

The Atomic entities are: Events, Rooms, Staff, Students, Features, Locations, Sites and Modules

There is a list of each of these - they can be found under the Windows menu.

A description of these atoms can be found in the Atoms section.

Creating a member of staff.

Follow these instructions to make a member of staff:
Look at the list of Staff
Select Windows / Staff from the menu.
The list box should appear (you may need to adjust the size of the parent window to see it all).
Create a new member of staff.
Click on the 'plus' sign on the right side above the white box.
A new item should appear in the list box. It will be called something like xy.staff1
The two character prefix (xy in this example) is generated at random - to find out why, and how to stop it see the section on Options.
Look at the member of staff.
Double click on the new item in the list box.
An "Atom Shower" window will appear.
Change his name.
It is important to establish naming conventions early on. Read the section on Conventions later.
For now call this item Chips - ID fields may not include spaces.
Simply edit the ID field so that it read Chips and press return.
Give him an afternoon off.
Hold the mouse button down on the yellow square representing Mon 13:00, holding the button down, drag the pointer right. You should notice a rectangle being drawn. When the button is release all squares touching or inside the rectangle should change colour to grey.
A yellow square indicates that the person or room is free at that time. A grey square indicates that they are unavailable for some unspecified reason (i.e. they are not at one of "our" events).
See the section Keys for a the meaning of each type of square.
